It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Alessandro Panconesi.

With profound sadness, the Elicsir Foundation and the extended family of Scuola Ortogonale students announce the loss of one of its founders Alessandro Panconesi. Alessandro, or Ale to his friends and students, was a brilliant scientist with a passion for discovery and divulgation. He guided innumerable young researchers early on in their careers in computing. At Elicsir, he was a magnet attracting brilliant students from STEM areas to computer science. He approached everything he did with uncontainable energy and passion. He will be greatly missed.
